LAG claim top spot in PGL Astana 2026 NA Closed Qualifier as top teams face schedule conflicts

PGL have unveiled the direct invites to the PGL Astana 2026 Closed Qualifiers today, with the four invites for North America being handed out to LAG, Zomblers, FarmVille, and Outfit 49. The direct invites to the Closed Qualifier presents quite an unusual field as the majority of top NA teams have scheduling conflicts that prevent them from competing in the Closed Qualifier or PGL Astana itself.

Going down the list, NRG, M80, and Passion UA are set to attend IEM Atlanta 2026, which directly conflicts with PGL Astana 2026. As for Voca, they are attending PGL Bucharest 2026 in two weeks while Marsborne are set to head back to Brazil in short order for FERJEE In House. Finally, Wildcard will be in Europe for Roman Imperium Cup VII and Urban Riga Open 4.

As for BOSS, their calendar is currently open, however with Peter "⁠stanislaw⁠" Jarguz rumored to be heading to Metizport, they have their own problems at the moment.

With all of that said, this presents an unprecedented opportunity for the aforementioned invites to qualify to their first international LAN. Based on their recent performances LAG are heavy favorites to make the main event while any of these teams heading to an event with the likes of FURIA and Falcons will certainly be a spectacle.
