100 Thieves fall to Johnny Speeds in upper bracket after perfect start at Parken Challenger Championship
100 Thieves enjoyed a perfect start to the group stage at Parken Challenger Championship. The Thieves began by winning all five group-stage matches, surrendering no more than eight rounds in any of them.
100T kept up their form in the first round of the playoffs. They faced off with FOKUS in their first match in the upper bracket, as both teams stole the other's map pick to force a decider on Nuke. 100T won the third map thanks to a strong first half on the T side, eventually winning the map 13-8.
100 Thieves' second match of the playoffs came against Johnny Speeds, whom they beat 13-3 on Nuke in the group stage. Johnny Speeds chose Overpass to begin the series. 100T started on the CT side, but weren't able to capitalize on their advantageous defensive half. Johnny Speeds held 100 Thieves to a 6-6 first half. Johnny Speeds took the upper hand in the second half, losing just three rounds on the way to a 13-9 win on Overpass.
100T's map pick was Inferno, where Johnny Speeds began with a strong 6-2 start. The Thieves battled back, though, reducing the deficit to two rounds at halftime, 7-5. A back-and-forth second half sent the map to overtime, as 100T had a perfect run in double overtime to win the map 19-15 and bring the match to a third map on Dust2.
Johnny Speeds took the reins in the final map, surrendering just three rounds in the first half of D2, leaving 100T in the dust at 9-3. There was not a comeback on the cards, as 100T won a single second-half round to fall 13-4 and tumble into the lower bracket.
