FRAG reveal FRAG 20 invites with Passion UA set to attend their first NA LAN

FRAG have today unveiled the invites for FRAG 20, a max prize $50,000 hybrid LAN that is set to be the latest numbered edition of their long-running NA tournament series. In a unique twist for FRAG events, Eight NA teams earned direct invites to the playoffs stage of the LAN via the February VRS, with M80 and Passion UA claiming the top seeds for the event.

Notably, this will be Passion UA's first event in North America as the team have traditionally struggled to lock down visas for a number of key players including former AWPer Håkon "hallzerk" Fjærli.

Looking at the invites, the majority of NA's top squads are set to attend FRAG 20, with NRG being the most notable team to decline an invite while a number of other smaller teams declined likely due to roster changes and the costs associated with attending the LAN.

The addition of eight top NA teams will do much to bolster an event that has thus far seen somewhat sluggish interest include an open circuit approaching saturation, with FRAG now competing with multiple European and Brazilian TOs to lure teams to their events. With teams still having plenty of time to sign up for FRAG 20 there will hopefully be more teams making the trek out to Las Vegas, especially as it will be one of the first events after invites go out for the IEM Cologne Major.

Currently the only notable non-invited team set to attend is Wildcard, who had not yet entered the VRS with their new roster by the time the February VRS dropped.
