
FaZe can't recover after first map stomp to G2; lose Stage 2 opener at ESL Pro League S23
FaZe v. G2 was one of the opening matches of ESL Pro League Season 23. G2 were coming into the matchup off the back of advancing from Stage 1 with a 3-2 record, while FaZe started their run at EPL in Stage 2.
G2 came out firing v. FaZe, dominating in map one and secured the sweep with a close victory in map two.

G2 won the first seven rounds of the map, lost one, then won six more rounds in a row to clinch the 13-1 victory. FaZe combined for 21 frags in the first map and G2's Álvaro "SunPayus" García had 20 kills on his own.
FaZe were much more competitive on Ancient. G2 jumped out to a 5-0 lead, but FaZe were able to stabilize to tie up the score at 6-6 at the break. Another G2 run of five rounds all but put FaZe away. FaZe brought the deficit down to 11-10, but G2 closed the map and series 13-10.
Mario "malbsMd" Samayoa and SunPayus combined for 75 frags in the sweep, each logging a rating above 1.7.
G2 and FaZe will return to the server tomorrow in 1-0 and 0-1 matches, respectively.
