2026 has not been kind to Liquid

Liquid sign up for Gamers Assembly 2026 as a last-ditch effort to reach Cologne Major

The event will end right before the VRS update used for major invites.

On March 1st, Liquid registered for Gamers Assembly 2026, a LAN taking place in Poitiers, France. The event has 64 slots, will run from April 4th to 5th, and features a prize pool of €15,000 (about $17,500). As invites for the IEM Cologne Major will be distributed based on the first April VRS, the event will be the last opportunity for Liquid to work toward the major after a disappointing start to 2026.

Though the tournament starts in roughly one month, fourteen teams are currently signed up. However, Liquid are one of two teams registered with an HLTV page, and they are the only one with a current VRS rank. The group format will depend on how many teams register, but the playoffs will be a 16-team, single-elimination, all-bo3 bracket.

Liquid are likely signed up for the event because of the dire situation they are in regarding major invites. Mediocre performances at BLAST Bounty, IEM Kraków, and a bad start to ESL Pro League have put them outside the threshold for a Cologne invite. With Liquid declining invites to other small LANs in early 2026, the French tournament is one of their last opportunities to try and climb the VRS.
