VRS experts express concern over Esports Nations Cup: "You can't allow this to be VRS ranked"
In light of the Esports World Cup Foundation's announcement that Counter-Strike 2 will be played at the Esports Nations Cup, VRS expert Jesper "Udknud" Larsen has made a post questioning the integrity of the tournament's ranked VRS impact.
In this post Udknud points out, "These are not "real rosters" competing for invites outside of this parallel universe," alluding to the fact that if three members of an organization participate, their team can earn VRS points. For example, if Danil "donk" Kryshkovets, Dmitriy "sh1ro" Sokolov, and Boris "magixx" Vorobyev competed together at ENC on Russia's team, that means Spirit would also earn VRS points from the event.
He continues, "there are real 3 man cores from real teams signing up for this, it is beyond CHEATING(!!) to get a buckload of points from this event that other teams are excluded from."In his final plea for VRS integrity, Udknud says, "Get this "abomination" of a ranked VRS event listed as unranked ASAP please."
In a post by 100 Thieves CS Head of Operations Graham "messioso" Pitt, he expands on the Spirit/Russia hypothetical, asking, "Would Falcons give them m0nesy and kyosuke to boost Spirits VRS in an event they cannot play themselves? Which teams would do this rather than prepare for the major or play BLAST Rivals?"
It's worth pointing out that Russia is in fact banned from fielding any teams at the Esports Nation Cup, but that caveat should not detract from the above hypotheticals.
The experts seem to agree: The Esports Nation Cap ought to be unranked.
