Marsborne eliminated from FiRe CONTER Season 1 by BESTIA
Marsborne exit FiRe CONTER Season 1 in 5th-8th place after losing the Group C final in a close match to BESTIA. The two teams faced a day earlier and the result was the same: Marsborne took their map pick, but lost the other two.
The match started well on Marsborne's pick of Inferno with the NA team winning the pistol and conversions to start 3-0. The teams went back and forth, but Marsborne held their own and entered their CT-side tied 6-6. After winning the second pistol, they cruised to the finish line with a flawless CT-side that won them the map 13-6.
BESTIA's pick of Ancient started off rough with Marsborne losing the pistol and being unable to win consecutive rounds until the end of the half, entering their T-side down 4-8. Despite losing the second pistol as well, they recovered well and managed to tie the score 10-10 before traded rounds led to overtime. Marsborne struggled at the start and were against the wall 13-15 before winning two rounds in a row to bring the match to double overtime. There, BESTIA's 3-0 start was too much to overcome and Marsborne lost the map 16-19 to tie the series 1-1.
Nuke was the decider and Marsborne's T-side was unable to find consistent success, losing seven of the first nine rounds after dropping the pistol. Though they did find two near the end, they still entered the second half down 4-8. They won the second pistol, but a string of four BESTIA rounds put them against the wall at 5-12. Though they managed to respond with four of their own, the gap was too big to close and they lost the map 9-13, ending the series 1-2.
Despite the loss, Ian "motm" Hardy was the best performer with a stellar 21/7 KD on Marsborne's map win and a full series rating of 1.30.
