Valve further teases the return of Cache in Counter-Strike 2

Valve bought the map from FMPONE in May 2025.

With the release of Season 4 of Premier in CS2, Valve has also been flirting with the idea of releasing Cache. The NAVI X account, in a post on X, mentioned the lack of Cache in the update, replying to the CS X account, and Valve commented that the map is "cooking".

Valve bought the map from Shawn "FMPONE" Snelling in May of last year, signalling an intent to bring the classic map back into the fold.

American CS streamer and Mythic player Austin "Cooper" Abadir further asked if the map was cooking "like a microwave meal or slow-cook roast?" The CS account replied, "Of all things, Cache does not deserve to be microwaved," suggesting that several changes may be needed to the map before it is ready for competitive play.

Cache was removed from the Active Duty map pool on March 28th, 2019, shortly before the StarLadder Berlin Major. The map was replaced by Vertigo in the pool. The reworked "green" version of the map made an appearance in the showmatch at ESL One New York, but it was never implemented into CS:GO's competitive map pool.

The return of Cache has become something of a cause célèbre in the wider Counter-Strike community, with many begging Valve to add the map back to the Active Duty map pool while clinging on to signs that Valve are re-adding the map. While this is the latest small crumb from Valve, it is clear they know people want the map back and seemingly have it's addition on their mind.
