Media: German leaker claims G2 are interested in acquiring Lake

According to German leaker, German Cs Leaks, M80 are interested in acquiring Mason "Lake" Sanderson from M80, with the American rifler reportedly replacing Mario "malbsMd" Samayoa on the lineup. Should the move come to fruition, it would see Lake become G2's first American player in the organization's Counter-Strike history.

The move would also see G2 gamble on malbsMd's own replacement within M80, as Lake was initially called up after malbsMd himself was poached by G2 in 2024.

The reported change comes after a mixed year for G2, with the team taking home a single trophy at BLAST Open Fall 2025 while making a number of roster changes after losing Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov to Falcons and benching Janusz "Snax" Pogorzelski.

During 2025 malbsMd maintained a modest 1.06 rating over 172 maps while slumping to a 1.01 rating over 92 maps against Top 10 opposition. Lake by comparison posted a 1.18 rating over 195 maps in 2025, albeit against a lower level of NA opposition and has no maps against Top 10 opponents.

As such, the move would be a significant gamble on a relatively unproven young player, basically replicating the malbsMd move less than two years later.

Should G2 pick up Lake to replace malbsMd, they would consist of:
