Infinite has his sights set on the future with Voca

Infinite on Voca's potential: "It all comes down to us getting on the same page"

Infinte is back in action after dealing with personal issues this year.

Jeffrey "Mnmzzz" Moore had the chance to catch up with Gage "Infinite" Green after his Voca side were knocked out of FRAG Miami 2 in the quarterfinals by eventual champions NRG. Infinte commented on Voca's performance in Miami, his return to pro play, and what the team needs to do to improve.

The full video interview is below with a complete transcription underneath. All questions and answers have been slightly edited for length and clarity.

Close game against NRG, first LAN back for you. How are you feeling coming out of that series?

I come out of the series feeling alright, it wasn't the best because we lost ourselves in the end with communication. We're not fully practiced but it felt good being back.

How are you feeling about your individual showing at this event?

I felt good in terms of how I was supporting the team overall with what I do for them. The PCs weren't as good for us so I don't think I could show my full capability. Earlier, we saw you take on M80 in a relatively close game before locking in playoffs.

Can you tell me about that game? What do you think about your performance against M80, who many see as the top team here at FRAG Miami.

I think we played pretty good. Our communication is what lost in the end. We didn't have enough prep. It is what it is we just need to go back and put some more time in before Vegas.

We recently saw you return to action by joining Voca to replace Slump on the team. How were you approached by Voca? Were you looking for a return to Counter-Strike at that time?

Yeah, I was always looking to return. I tried to come back a few months ago but then I had some IRL stuff come up again. nosraC approached me a while back, a few weeks before they cut slump. They needed someone more experienced. That's how that came about.

What have you been up to in your break? We know you had some unfortunate family circumstances to take care of but have you been keeping active in Counter-Strike?

I've been playing FPL, DMing, and watching a lot of Counter-Strike. I've been trying to keep up with the meta so that I don't fall behind.

This is your latest team in a long line of teams where you've played with nosraC and this Choco Check? core, how do you think it's evolved since you last played with them?

The main thing is that they are putting in more time because they didn't practice much before when I first came into the team as a sub. We're trying to practice more, watch more, do more to build the team up. There wasn't a lot of structure before nosraC was there. With me joining, I always try to bring stuff and add new things in.

You've had a long career here in the NA scene, playing for a lot of top teams, but you've never been able to crack into that true tier-one. There've been some false starts, some teams you left under bad circumstances.

Now that you're an older, more experienced player, do you think this is the team where you are mentally and physically ready to try to break the glass ceiling to go to the top of NA?

We definitely have players that can do it. It all comes down to us getting on the same page. I've always been consistent throughout my career, but it's about getting the team to be consistent. That's the hardest thing, getting people to get their comms up and put in the extra work that no one wants to do. If we can do all that then we can have a lot more possibilities to go deeper in tournaments and actually win.

As you look to go deeper in these LAN tournaments, you'll have an opportunity next week as Voca will be heading to fl0m LAN in Las Vegas. Based on your results here at FRAG Miami, how are you feeling about your chances in Vegas?

I feel confident, but our results are mainly against Outfit 49, with three wins against them. Not too much to be proud of but it's good to be back and playing. It's important that we get the experience for these LANs that are coming up because there's going to be a lot better setups and it will be a lot more fair for the teams involved.

You'll have SEMPHIS with you in Vegas. Do you think that's going to make a big difference for you guys?

Yeah, I think it will make a difference for sure. SEMPHIS is good vibes; he always keeps the team in check. It's a positive in all ways.

Voca will be back in the server next weekend at fl0m Mythical LAN in Las Vegas, Nevada.
