Zomblers win Trottah's $500 Christmas Cup

Matthew "Trottah" Trotta held a $500 Christmas Cup yesterday, where Zomblers took home the top prize in the 32-team tournament.

Zomblers defeated Phoenix in the final in a two-map sweep where Zomblers were able to grind out a win on Dust2 and smoke Phoenix on Mirage to take the title.

On their way to the final, Zomblers went through 1NT, teamington, BEBRA1769, and NuTorious. Phoenix, on the other hand, defeated 67 Matcha Labubu, Lurker, Holly Molly, and Omen.

Zomblers and Phoenix went back-and-forth on the first map until the scores reached 7-7. From that point, Zomblers took five rounds in a row to secure themselves five chances to win the first map. Phoenix came right back, steadily grinding away at the lead until they forced overtime. From there, the teams weren't separated until the fourth overtime period, where Zomblers finally managed to secure the 22-19 win.

Zomblers took the momentum from the first map and carried it into the second, whereas Phoenix appeared to have run out of gas after the first game. Zomblers held a solid 8-4 lead after the first period, which only grew in the second half. They only surrendered one round to Phoenix after halftime, securing a 13-5 win and the title in Trottah's Christmas Cup.
