Passion UA lock in BLAST Rivals 2025 Season 2 playoffs after upsetting The MongolZ
Passion UA secured a spot in the BLAST Rivals 2025 Season 2 playoffs after reverse sweeping The MongolZ in their opening match.
This upset is a huge result for the former Complexity core, as they secured their first notable playoff since signing with Passion UA in August.
Passion UA had to work hard to beat The MongolZ, who finished in the top six of the stacked IEM Chengdu last week. The Mongolians enjoyed a good early lead on Overpass, which Passion UA picked.
At the end, Passion UA showed some grit on their CT side and forced overtime, but The MongolZ won anyway.
It seemed over for Passion UA when The MongolZ won the first half of Inferno by 8-4 on the T-side. But Passion UA had a remarkably strong T-side themselves, off the back of an impressive performance from Vladyslav "Kvem" Korol (15-6 K/D and 109.8 ADR), to conquer a narrow 13-11 victory.
The series headed to Nuke, and once again, it was a tight game. Kvem, Michael "Grim" Wince, and Håkon "hallzerk" Fjærli were shooting hard once again, and the latter won a crucial clutch toward the end of the game that broke The MongolZ's economy.
Passion UA held on tight after that, and secured another 13-11 victory to upset The MongolZ and qualify for the playoffs.

This will be Passion UA's first big playoffs. The team have mainly attended tier-two LANs since signing with Passion UA, and spent the past four weeks just practicing.
HLTV interviewed hallzerk after the match, and the Norwegian talked about the feeling of making the playoffs.
It feels really good. I haven't played on stage now for a long, long time, so it feels good. And it's going to be Vlad's first stage, so he is really happy and excited.
It feels good, and all of us are going to get a little energy boost playing that stage game. Especially now since we just got here a few days ago and most of these teams have been in China for a while now, so getting that energy is going to be good for us.
Passion UA will rejoin the server later tonight to play Falcons. Should they win again, they will qualify straight for the BLAST Rivals 2025 S2 semifinals.
