SAW demolish Liquid to send them home from PGL Masters Bucharest
Liquid have finished PGL Masters Bucharest 2025 in 5th-8th after a demoralizing loss to SAW today in the quarterfinals of the $1.25 million Romanian LAN.
Liquid were the favorite to win the series, given how they're playing lately. Plus, they were in 10th in the global Valve Regional Standings (VRS), while SAW had over 200 VRS points less and sat in 19th.
And Liquid gave the impression that they'd beat SAW comfortably, as they won Ancient by 13-4 off the back of an amazing T-side in the first half, in which they lost only two rounds out of twelve.
However, as Liquid themselves described on socials, they "fell apart" after Ancient. SAW, on the other hand, played as one of the best teams in the world and stomped Liquid by 13-2 on Train and 13-1 on Inferno.

Liquid had finished top four in all three past events — FISSURE Playground 2, Birch Cup, and CS Asia Championships — and PGL was a good opportunity for them to build confidence for the StarLadder Budapest Major and score more VRS points.
But, they will have to pick up the pieces and figure out what went wrong in this series versus SAW, instead. The good thing is that Liquid's next tournament is the Major itself, and they only join the competition on Stage 2, which kicks off on November 29th.
