dupreeh joins development team for new game
Five-time Major champion Peter "dupreeh" Rasmussen will assist in the development of Skyward Masters, a new FPS that aims to compete with the likes of Counter-Strike, Fortnite, and League of Legends.
dupreeh and Astralis co-founder Frederik Byskov are now co-founders of Trinor Entertainment, the studio that has been developing Skyward Masters for two and a half years.
Skyward Masters is a "fast-paced arena shooter FPS where four teams battle on floating islands in an ever-changing environment," according to Trinor Entertainment.
This is what dupreeh had to say about joining the project, according to a press release:
I’ve been on the scene as a player for many years, and now I have the chance to help create a game that delivers the same emotions and experiences I’ve had throughout my career. Skyward Masters combines intense action with tactical elements in a way that I believe will appeal to both casual gamers and hardcore competitors. It’s a dream project, and I’m incredibly excited to build it together with the team.
Hours after the announcement, dupreeh said on X that he'll not put CS behind, and looks forward to continuing to work as broadcast talent.
The Astralis legend also clarified that he isn't coding Skyward Masters.
I am not good enough to code a game like this. I know a bit, but I am assisting the developers in everything game-related - especially the FPS part. On top of that, I’ve invested in the company, so I have set the ambitions high. Beat CS? Probably not. Not the plan either ;)
dupreeh will instead assist the developers with "core gameplay and the whole FPS part." This involves gunplay, feeling, handling, and movement, dupreeh said.
Trinor Entertainment is planning to release Skyward Masters in 2027. For now, the studio is running closed playtests on Steam. Players can sign up as a playtester via the game's website.
