Escobar has been appointed as Vitality's data analyst

Vitality sign Pablo Escobar to CS2 team

Nobody was expecting this one.

Pablo Escobar has joined Vitality's CS2 team as a data analyst, the French organization announced on September 16th. Of course, this isn't the famous and deceased Colombian drug lord and narcoterrorist that shares the same name, but a Spanish data analyst who goes by the alias VdaK1NG, which didn't prevent fans from making all sorts of jokes.

VdaK1NG previously worked as a CS:GO coach and manager in the Spanish scene, before transitioning to data analysis. Escobar already has a Master's Degree in Biostatistics, and is currently doing a PhD in Statistics and Operational Research at the Universitat de València.

According to vdaK1NG, he spent months working "behind the scenes" until yesterday's announcement.

To the fans, let me reassure you: we’re leaving no stone unturned to get back to winning every tournament we play.

In the announcement, Vitality said that vdaK1NG joined last season, and that his mission is to "build a data unity that helps players and staff make better decisions through advanced analytics."

The addition of vdaK1NG bolsters Vitality's CS2 staff, which already featured head coach Rémy "XTQZZZ" Quoniam, assistant coach Mathieu "MaT" Leber, performance manager Jack Birtwhistle, and team manager Matthieu Péché.
