Playing on high ping didn't slow Swisher down whatsoever

M80 win ECL NA match despite playing from Europe, with nearly 100 ping

That's how good M80 are in comparison to the tier-two scene in NA.

Playing CS2 on high ping is one of the worst situations that you can put yourself in. You have to essentially play differently, as it's easier for opponents to kill you.

But, even though M80 faced InControl from Europe, with nearly 100 ping, they still walked out with a win in ESL Challenger Season 50 North America Cup #1.

The M80 players had between 89-94 ping on average throughout the series, while the InControl players had between 20-50 ping.

It looked like InControl would win the series, as they scraped past M80 on Mirage, thanks to a decisive performance from David "Beast" Zucker. The Frenchman finished the map with 25 kills, 102.3 ADR, and +10.61 Round Swing %.

M80, though, quickly tied the series on Overpass, after a convincing performance on the CT-side (7-1) in the second half. Both Michael "Swisher" Schmid and Mason "Lake" Sandersen stepped up and finished with over 100 ADR.

M80 carried the momentum to Ancient, the decider, and had another strong showing on CT-side (8-4). This left them in good condition to win the game, and they lost only one round on T-side.

This is exactly the type of match that shows the difference between M80, one of the best teams in NA, between the tier-two teams in the region. M80's superior firepower and system were enough to overcome the lag.

Unfortunately, playing this game at 09:00PM made M80 not get enough sleep to face Vitality in the morning, at 06:00AM. M80 still put up a good fight against the BLAST.tv Austin Major champions, but Vitality ended up reverse-sweeping them.
