Liquid eliminated from EWC by Vitality
Liquid just fell to Vitality in the round of 16 at the Esports World Cup by a score of 2-0. Both maps were very close, but it wasn't enough for Liquid to get the job done.
Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken was a bright spot for Liquid, as he posted the best rating of all players in the match with a 1.49.
Vitality 2-0
Liquid
Vitality started out well on Liquid's map pick of Mirage. The Bees took a 9-3 lead at halftime and looked primed to easily steal away Liquid's map. Liquid didn't go down without a fight, though. They won eight of the first nine rounds in the second half to take an 11-10 lead. However, Vitality remained composed and locked in the first map 13-11, thanks in no small part to Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut's 27 frags.
Dust2 was the second map and started out much more cagey than the first. Both teams grappled for control, and it was Vitality who eventually took a 7-5 lead after their CT side. Vitality grabbed the momentum early in the second half, racing out to a 12-6 lead to put Liquid on the brink. Liquid bounced back once again, taking six straight rounds to send the map to overtime. It was the second overtime that was the difference maker, as Vitality took the first three T side rounds and then the second round in the second half to seal Liquid's fate. Twistzz dropped an incredible 37 kills in the losing effort on Dust2.
Vitality move on to face TYLOO in the quarterfinals of the Esports World Cup.
