Cryptic was tasked with leading this new BLUEJAYS squad

Cryptic praises nomizz and dottie: "I could easily see them in a tier-one team soon"

For him, the Mongolian rifler always had incredible mechanics.

BLUEJAYS finished in fourth at Fragadelphia 19, a respectable result considering the level of opponents in the tournament and the fact that they recently added Maks "laxiee" Andrye.

Dust2.us' Editor-in-Chief Jeffrey "Mnmzzz" Moore caught up with BLUEJAYS' IGL Matthew "Cryptic" Whitmore at the beginning of their FRAG run, to discuss his thoughts on laxiee, why the Moneyball project imploded, and how he feels reuniting with Adam "freshie" Paterson.

The complete interview can be found below on YouTube, with key snippets underneath. The questions and answers were slightly edited for clarity and length.

You recently joined BLUEJAYS after spending some time in free agency with Moneyball. That means you had a reunion with freshie on this new roster. How's it been to reunite with him?

Well, he was my longest-standing teammate on BOSS. We were teammates for two and a half years, going all the way back to Kinship Black in 2020. So, we're pretty comfortable playing with each other. We know all our tendencies, so it's really easy to play sites with each other. We saw a couple of things we had to improve with the experience we got from either team we were on, but now we just have to combine everything, and we'll grow together.

You were in Moneyball briefly, playing with the two Swedes of dottie and nomizz. What happened there? You went from being on Nouns to going to that Moneyball squad, and then played one event, and then it completely imploded. What happened to dottie and nomizz?

We couldn't get the funding from Nouns, so we just dropped the name. No matter what we would have done, we would have gone into Moneyball anyway. With nomizz and dottie, they just have a different play style of how we want to play. They want to play more puggy while we want to have more structure. So, it didn't really fit in our overall goals.

They still have insane potential. If they actually want to go play on a structured team, I could easily see them in a tier-one team soon. But, they don't want to play structured right now, so it is what it is.

As someone who worked a lot with young players, what's been working with laxiee on BLUEJAYS?

Well, we actually tried to get laxiee back on BOSS, like a year and a half ago, because his aim was just so insane. But, he actually didn't know English at all. But now his English is up to speed because he's playing so much over here. And, he just has a couple of things to learn because he was on a PUG team with Akimbo, and he didn't practice as much. So, as soon as we get him up to speed, it should be a breeze in the park.

And what is his role in the team?

He's pretty much filling Peeping's roles. He plays the hyper-aggressive positions where he's usually being an entry, and we just have to let him have free range because his mechanics are so good.
