Diamonds are rare these days

Only 0.2% of BLAST pick'ems have a chance at Diamond

It's been a wild Major so far.

Only 0.2 percent of players who submitted their BLAST.tv Austin Major pick'ems through BLAST's website have a chance at Diamond coin, the organizer revealed today.

To be eligible for the Diamond coin, players needed to get at least five correct predictions in all three stages, as well as two quarterfinals predictions, one semifinals prediction, and a grand final prediction. Effectively, these players need to predict two quarterfinal winners, one semifinal winner, and ultimately the team who will win the Major.

During the Swiss stages, pick'ems players had to accurately pick at least five of the following: two teams to go 3-0, two teams to go 0-3, and six teams to advance with a 3-1 or 3-2 record. But because of the improbable runs from teams like Lynn Vision and Legacy, many pick'ems lost out out on potential Diamond status right away.

Stage Two in particular was exceptionally devastating, as Legacy stunned the field by going 3-0 while colossal favorite Falcons crashed and burned. Both 3-0 picks from the prior stage, HEROIC and B8, also both failed to advance.

Stage Three also ruined several perfect pick'ems, as popular 3-0 pick Vitality suffered an opening loss to Legacy, while FURIA of all teams stole one of the 3-0 slots.

If the playoffs turn out to be as equally unpredictable, perhaps no one will claim a Diamond Coin in the first NA Major in seven years.
