LAG top ESEA Advanced Season 53 over Chicken Coop
LAG has claimed the crown in ESEA Advanced Season 53 after a near-perfect run in the playoffs. LAG earned $7,000 of the $20,600 prize pool and will now compete in all four of the ESL Challenger Cups in the upcoming season.
LAG came into the best-of-five final with a one-map advantage over Chicken Coop, thanks to beating them earlier in the upper bracket final. The head start may not have been needed, as the final went entirely the way of LAG.
On Nuke, LAG started with a solid 8-4 CT half and stayed in control on the second side to win 13-7. Kevin "consti" Yi put up an impressive 20-6 statline to lead the way for his team and put them one map win away from the title.
Ancient did not get any better for Chicken Coop. LAG started on the less-preferred CT side, but still managed to take a 7-5 lead into the halftime break. A flawless second period saw LAG secure the map and match by a 13-5 score. This time it was Mason "mason" Watkins leading the way with an outstanding 25-5 showing to close things out.
Chicken Coop may find some consolation in the fact that they have secured their spot in three of the four ECL Cups. Third-placed VitaPLUR Plasma qualified for two of the cups, and fourth-placed Take Flyte has guaranteed their spot in the first ECL Cup. The first ESL Challenger League Cup will begin on August 11th and run until August 31st.
