Pure elation

lux on Legacy's victory over FaZe: "I've never beat a team of this caliber"

Legacy are through to Stage Three as their Cinderella run continues.

From missing out on the Major altogether to a name-making victory capping off a Stage Three berth, Legacy's run at the BLAST.tv Austin Major has been nothing short of incredible.

Filling in for BESTIA at the last minute, the Brazilian roster's most impressive win came today in a 2-0 win against FaZe, securing a spot in Stage Three and a top-16 placement for the roster that's making the most of a second chance.

After their win, Lucas "lux" Meneghini spoke to Dust2.us about the monumental victory and whether or not they could reach another level in Stage Three.

You can find the entire interview below in either text or video form. All questions and answers have been slightly edited for clarity.

A 2-0 win over FaZe Clan, beating the likes of s1mple, karrigan, rain; legends of the game and Major winners. How are you feeling coming of that victory?

I feel like I've never beat a team of this caliber. Beating them as a new IGL, it means a lot for me. I think it's only the beginning for our team in this scenario. Yeah, we are very happy.

You're through to Stage Three and the top 16. Legacy weren't even going to be at this Major originally. Could you have imagined anything like this happening after getting the call-up?

I actually made the Legends stage twice before with paiN, but it's new to me as an IGL. I feel like we didn't expect this; like I said in other interviews, I was thinking stage-by-stage. It's something that we knew we could achieve, but we didn't think we would achieve it so early with this lineup. We're young, I think 22 years old on average, so it's very cool.

Some could make the claim that maybe you're the best team in Brazil right now, do you feel that way?

I don't feel that way, because I feel we need to beat the other Brazilian teams. I have a lot of respect for the other Brazilian teams, and we're right now just thinking about our matches in this tournament.

You'll be facing an entirely new caliber of teams in the next couple of days. Can we see another level from Legacy?

I think so. We're practicing during the tournament as well in between games, fixing mistakes and trying to practice against the teams we will not face. I think you can expect a better version and a better shape.
