Techno on being famous in Mongolia: "We should remember our hard times and not be arrogant"

Dust2.us' Jeffrey "Mnmzzz" Moore spoke with Sodbayar "Techno" Munkhbold of The MongolZ after his team's 2-0 win over Aurora in the quarterfinals of IEM Dallas 2025.

Techno commented on the American crowd's support for the team, their pride in representing their country, and how the players are handling their newfound fame.

Coming into this LAN after PGL Astana, I know you said in an interview that you felt at home in Kazakhstan. It's close to Mongolia, with a similar culture and climate, so it felt like home. Did Dallas feel like home at all, too?

I did notice the crowd. People said that they were cheering for us, and the crowd was on our side. I think it's a great confidence boost for us.

A couple months ago, you were announced as the official Esports Team of Mongolia. I wanted to ask, what is it like to receive that honor from your government?

I say this one always, it's a really meaningful thing for us. It's an honor to be the nations team. There's also some advantages for us, like the visas and travel insurance.

I heard on a recent episode of HLTV Confirmed, Bleh mentioned seeing your guys' faces everywhere on advertisements, that you're superstars in Mongolia. You're still a pretty young guy and you've only recently hit this high level of success. What's it like being famous in Mongolia?

It feels great for all of us. Also, we don't try to be too arrogant. We must know ourselves. We should remember our hard times and not be arrogant.

I also saw the video that The MongolZ did with the wrestlers on the steppe. Can you tell me anything about that experience?

That content creator is really famous in Mongolia for food content. We were collaborating with them and we really liked it.
