Stx doesn't see CS as a career, but she loves the game

Supernova Comets Stx: "I'm not looking to just win one game and walk away. I want to go far"

Stx sees Supernova Comets as a dark horse.

Supernova Comets finished their first day at ESL Impact League Season 7 finals with one win against Zerance and one loss to FURIA fe. This scenario put them against the winner of Zerance/DMS for a spot in the playoffs.

Dust2.us' Editor-in-Chief Jeffrey "Mnmzzz" Moore got hold of Wrenna "Stx" Trampel right after their loss to FURIA fe to discuss what went wrong in that game, and more.

The full interview can be found below on YouTube, with key snippets underneath. All questions and answers below have been slightly edited for length and clarity.

So, you had a rough start against FURIA fe, with the first half finishing 11-1. What went so wrong against them, considering you played well on Anubis before against Zerance?

Honestly, we just didn't shoot hard enough on our CT side, and we had trouble falling into our setups. They did a really good job of flashing us out, like, closer angles towards B. And they played a lot more aggressively towards A, and we didn't really address it with the AWP properly.

They fished a lot through A main and looked for 1v1s on our anchor, and they were winning it. Honestly, they just played a really tight game trade-wise, and their utility was really solid, flashing us out of the close angles. If we played further back on B, I think it would have been better.

We just didn't play the same game as we played earlier, firepower-wise. The only person who was really shooting was Fawx.

Despite the loss, you can still take solace in the fact that you're 1-1 in the tournament. This is your first Impact LAN, how are you enjoying it so far, other than the loss?

ESL has been really awesome to us, the media day was a lot of fun. We're all having fun, [even though] it's a little bit tiring. At the end of the day, everybody's ready to crash, but it kind of works out for us if we have early games.

Results-wise, I'm not looking to just win one game and walk away. Obviously, I want to go far. I kind of view us as a dark horse team because, as you said, empathy never won a map on LAN at Impact Finals. But, I could see us winning it all. I wouldn't put us as favorites, but we're almost an unknown quantity.

I think we're kind of scary for some teams, especially like in that first map. raven and Serendipity kind of struggled, but we've said this before, all our players are capable of shooting. So, we don't generally have a game as rough as we had versus FURIA. But, I think we can be a really scary team to play against, and we showed that against Zerance.

More broadly, how are you feeling about your career right now? You've come a long way in a relatively short amount of time, only really starting playing Impact last year at the start of 2024.

I never really looked at it as a career perspective, I just enjoyed playing the game, I always have. I've played for like, nine years, in ESEA leagues with friends from college and high school.

It's really awesome being here, but this is like, I don't want to say 'not a priority', because I do play a lot of CS and love the game. But, that's really all it is for me. I don't look at it from a career perspective. I love playing this game, and I love playing with this team.

I know sometimes you get a lot of hate and it's made me not want to play Impact as much, but I love my teammates and I want to keep playing with them as long as I can.

With that in mind, do you think this roster is going to continue past this LAN? There's some time until Season 8, do you think this roster is going to stick together until then?

Nobody has any plans to leave that I know of. I said it to empathy and raven a bunch, if we don't win here in Dallas, which we obviously want to, I want to be in the finals in Stockholm in November. I want us to keep working on our game plan, and everyone seems super committed, and we all really love playing with each other. So, I don't think anything will change going forward.
