marie has adapted well to the rest of the FlyQuest RED squad

marie on joining FlyQuest RED: "Coming to America has always been my dream"

The Danish rifler is loving her time in Texas.

The ESL Impact League Season 7 finals are underway in Dallas and one of the best matches so far was FlyQuest RED vs. Imperial Valkyries. The NA team almost claimed the victory, falling just short at the end against the best women's team in the world.

Dust2.us' Editor-In-Chief Jeffrey "Mnmzzz" Moore talked to FlyQuest RED's latest addition, the Danish rifler Marie "marie" Ellen Toft Sørensen, right after the game to gather her thoughts about the match, how she is adapting to FlyQuest RED and America, and their campaign in ESEA Advanced

The full interview can be found below on YouTube, with key snippets underneath. All questions and answers below have been slightly edited for length and clarity.

Despite the loss, it was an incredibly competitive map. Probably the closest that Imperial Valkyries have been pushed to date [Editor's Note: The interview was conducted before Imperial Valkyries lost to NIP Impact]. How are you feeling about this result?

I'm feeling great right now. I feel like we did very well and that we read them very well. They were definitely scared, like, they should be. And I'm very proud of our performance. I know we lost, but I'm still happy.

We did see a great performance from BiBiAhn, especially. She's been putting up some fantastic numbers across all tournaments recently. How do you rate her performance so far, since you've joined the team a few months ago?

I feel like BB is fucking machine. BB is probably the best player I've played with, [she's the best in terms of mechanics]. She's such a GOAT, and she also has a really nice personality, like, she doesn't have a big ego. She's such a nice person and a GOATed player.

You finally had the chance to meet her and the rest of the FlyQuest RED team because you finally arrived in NA after some time playing remotely from Denmark. What's it been like to meet them, spend some time together, and bootcamping to get ready for this event?

It has been amazing, actually. The girls are so nice, so sweet. There's no tension between us, and we can say everything to each other. I feel like coming to America has always been my dream, and to be here with such an amazing team, where we are all best friends, it couldn't be better.

What made you decide to go for an NA team after the end of your time with Astralis Impact?

It has always been my dream to move to America, [so, that played a part in it]. I just felt that after Astralis, I wanted something like a good team, a really good team. And then GooseBreeder texted me, and I was like 'Hell fucking yeah.'

I've talked about it half a year ago that I really wanted to join FlyQuest RED because I feel like they're so nice and I started watching GooseBreeder's YouTube videos. Now I'm here and I'm so proud of myself.

FlyQuest RED has done quite well in ESEA Advanced, I believe you locked in playoffs with a 10-4 record, something like that. So, we're going to have two Impact teams in Advanced playoffs. How are you feeling about the season in Advanced?

I feel like we've done so well, to be honest. I'm not very clever on the ESEA thing and stuff, but I feel like we've been so good, we played so good, and we practiced a lot. [All that practice] is paying off.

Also, in the game that we just played, it was an insane performance by us.
