PGL Astana/IEM Dallas scheduling nightmare could be realized for Aurora, FURIA

Two semifinal teams at PGL Astana have to worry about more than just their upcoming match, as they're in danger of missing the start of IEM Dallas.

Both Aurora and FURIA have reached the semifinals in Astana, and are both scheduled to compete tomorrow, but they also need to reach IEM Dallas before the tournament starts on May 19th. Aurora's opponent Astralis did not qualify for Dallas, and FURIA's opponent Spirit is not participating in Dallas.

FURIA and Aurora will likely encounter fines from ESL, as they will almost certainly miss the IEM Dallas media day. However, to best accommodate the two Astana semifinalists, ESL will give them the last match slot of the first day of play.

Should either or both of these teams make the final of PGL Astana, they will have a little over a full day to travel to Dallas to make their initial IEM matches. PGL Astana also features a third-place match on Sunday.

While writing this article, ESL released the schedule for the first day of matches in Dallas, which confirmed that Aurora and FURIA were given the last match slots on the first day. Aurora will play against HEROIC, and FURIA will face The MongolZ.
