karrigan on FaZe signing s1mple: "We throw a Hail Mary at the Major"
FaZe's in-game leader Finn "karrigan" Andersen has shared his thoughts on the removal of Helvijs "broky" Saukants and Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyljev's arrival for the BLAST.tv Austin Major.
broky has been the subject of much criticism for the past six months at least, as his individual form took a massive hit. He went from being FaZe's X-factor to struggling with the AWP. And for that, karrigan feels sad that they couldn't get broky out of the slump.
Roughest benching off my career, something had to be done, and I wanna really highlight this is not a blame on broky. The lineup didn’t work, and I used all my experience, but with this we throw a Hail Mary at the Major. Long term we have no idea yet what’s gonna happen.
I wanna express that I know the beast is inside of him and I feel bad we couldn’t get it out lately. We all failed in the team and that’s the sad part, but I know and I hope we get to see the beast in him again soon.
While karrigan is clearly sad that broky had to be benched, he's also excited to play with s1mple.
"[This is a] unique opportunity and I'm looking forward to play with this GOAT at the Major," karrigan wrote on X. "This is an all-in move, we are going for the trophy at the Major even if s1mple is only a stand-in, I know we can win."
karrigan won't have to wait till the Austin Major to play with s1mple as they're attending IEM Dallas, which kicks off on May 19th.
