Jonji is bringing his taunting skills to VALORANT

Jonji joins Built By Gamers Academy in VALORANT

After triumphing with Bad News Bears at Fragadelphia 15 just last month, the Canadian is off to Riot's game.

After announcing his departure from Bad News Bears and openness to offers in both CS:GO and VALORANT on September 24th, Jonathan "Jonji" Carey has pursued the latter option, and has joined Built By Gamers' new academy team.

Despite having one foot out the door, Jonji did participate in IEM Fall North America with Bad News Bears. While the team as a whole fared poorly and finished 2-3 in their group, Jonji boasted the second highest rating behind Paytyn "junior" Johnson.

The only other member of the roster with notable CS:GO experience is Rahmin "ShoukR" Shoukoohi, who played alongside Strife's Bobby "stamina" Eitrem on Rebirth in ESEA Advanced Season 32. Built By Gamers also announced that ESL/ESEA/PreGame alum Michael "MaestrO" Bulostin as their academy coach the day before the roster reveal.

Built By Gamers' main squad has seen its fair share of members with backgrounds in CS:GO, including Mike "pho" Panza, Rob "rob-wiz" Kennedy, and current member Raymond "Rarkar" Xu.

Built By Gamers Academy are:

  • United States Rahmin "ShoukR" Shoukoohi
  • United States Cameron "FireBallOps" Tomaselli
  • United States Nabil "khanartist" Khan
  • Canada Ludovic "monSi" Lefebvre
  • Canada Jonathan "Jonji" Carey
  • United States Michael "MaestrO" Bulostin (Coach)
  • United States Luke "Fray" Edgemon (Performance Coach)

Unfortunately for Jonji and his new teammates, the team failed to advanced past the group stage in their first event together.
