Trio of players implicated in matchfixing scandal have bans lifted on ESEA

At this time only retchy and 4pack remain banned on the third party platform.

David "J0LZ" Jolin's deep run to the quarterfinals of ESEA Summer 2021 Cash Cup 3 with SalutLA highlighted the fact that his ban on ESEA, stemming from potential involvement with matchfixing revealed earlier this year, has expired. The same is true for Carson "nosraC" O'Reilly and Alex "vek" Voynov.

At this time the bans on Kevin "4pack" Przypasniak and Sebastian "retchy" Tropiano have not been reversed and remain set to expire next week on August 1st, unless ESEA chooses to extend them.

Dust2.us spoke to a representative from ESEA who noted that the player bans were handed down at the recommendation of the Esports Integrity Commission (ESIC) while the investigation into the matchfixing accusations was ongoing. ESIC has not released a formal statement at this time regarding the outcomes and findings of their investigation into the matchfixing scandal, but it can be reasonably inferred that their investigation has concluded if they have recommended to ESEA that the bans on certain players be lifted.

However, everything must be taken with a grain of salt and a lot of patience, since Ian Smith of ESIC noted in an interview that a report would be released in a matter of "weeks" way back at the end of March.

Dust2.us was told by J0LZ that after months of radio silence from ESIC he had received a reply from a representative of the commission a few days ago informing him that they had recommended to ESEA that his ban should be lifted. At that time he was not aware that vek or nosraC would also have their bans retracted.
