GODSENT win ESEA Summer Cash Cup 2 over Bad News Bears

Kind of looks like the headline from Spring Cash Cup 6...

GODSENT took advantage of their direct invite to the second day of play and tallied their third cup win in North America with a 2-0 sweep of Bad News Bears in the grand final of ESEA Summer Cash Cup 2. RBG swept the other invited team, Recon 5, for third place.

GODSENT jumped out to an 11-4 lead on Inferno, but needed all thirty rounds to close RBG out in regulation. They were even more dominant on their own map pick, Dust2, where they seized a 13-2 halftime lead and allowed just one round in the second half en route to a sweep. Eduardo "dumau" Wolkmer finished with the most kills in the server with 46, while Connor "chop" Sullivan led RBG with 39 frags and was the only member of his side with a positive KD in the series.

Recon 5 managed to steal away Bad News Bears' map pick of Nuke, but were then reverse swept on Inferno and Overpass, both by a comfortable margin. Bad News Bears tallied seven second-half rounds on each map and advanced to face GODSENT for the lion's share of the prize pool. Derek "desi" Branchen led all players with 71 kills in the series loss as the duo of Peter "ptr" Gurney and Michael "Swisher" Schmid each tallied 65 frags for Bad News Bears.

RBG pulled out a thirty-round victory on Inferno and a much more comfortable series-clinching win on Vertigo to snag a tiny piece of the prize pool for their weekend's worth of trouble. Kyle "Wolffe" Greenfield led the way with 32 frags on Inferno, while three of his opponents didn't even manage that total in the whole series.

As was the case for their previous two cup wins in North America, GODSENT had to fight through Bad News Bears to emerge as the victors on Sunday. They battered ptr and friends on their map pick of Inferno, but stumbled and needed all thirty rounds to complete the sweep on Ancient. The Brazilians squandered a 13-8 lead and let Bad News Bears draw the scoreline level at 14-14 before they won the final two rounds, the series, and the event. João "felps" Vasconcellos topped the scoreboard with 45 kills for GODSENT, while in-game-leader Alan "Shakezullah" Hardeman led Bad News Bears by example with 37 frags in the series, a feat equalled by Swisher.
