Brazil only 55% successful in 2-2 Matches

The final day of the Opening Stage of the 2024 PGL Copenhagen Major is upon us, with the second stage of the first Counter-Strike 2 Major set to begin tomorrow. Today we will find out the final three teams that will join everyone in the Elimination Stage, with all of the Americans hoping for a Brazilian sweep to add three allocation spots to give them the most Major berths in history.

Only FURIA is considered to be the favorite out of Brazil's three matchups today. Imperial and Legacy are both underdogs in their matches against Europe's GamerLegion and Mongolia's TheMongolz, respectively. FURIA is set to play against the Portuguese SAW, who are starting to show cracks after a strong run up to the Major.

History is sometimes ready to repeat itself, and if so, Brazil will likely send at least one of its teams to the Elimination Stage, granting the Americas a sixth spot in Shanghai. This would be a return to the region's original allocation in the post-COVID era and a move away from the crushing Swiss system that was scrutinized earlier this month which only gave spots to five teams that went 3-1 and failed to play out every match in the bracket causing seeding issues later on.

Imperial and FURIA have history in the 2-2 matches at the Major, with Imperial winning one and losing one, while FURIA won theirs back in 2022. In Copenhagen both organizations will once again be in the same stressful situation and fans will hope that this time they are successful. Out of nine 2-2 matches, Brazilian squads have won five of them, losing four.
