Let's hope nobody has an emergency...

Complexity register NIP legend as Major sub

The team hopes that it isn't necessary in the end.

Every team needs to make sure that in case of disaster, there is always a backup plan. For Complexity and their hopes at making the playoffs at the PGL Copenhagen Major, they are taking all steps to give themselves the best possible chance.

While you can't account for everything, Dust2.us has learned that Complexity has registered Patrik "f0rest" Lindberg as the team's substitute for the upcoming Major. The move comes as a slight surprise as f0rest last played an official match in November while substituting for Alliance. Prior to that, the legendary NIP player stood-in for fnatic at IEM Dallas 2023 after Freddy "KRIMZ" Johansson was unable to attend.

f0rest is best remembered for his time on Ninjas in Pyjamas where he spent over seven years with the organization. As part of that, he was Major finalist for the first five events and came away as the winner for ESL One: Cologne 2014. He was named as the 2nd best player in the world in 2013, #7 in 2014, #16 in 2015, and #7 in 2016. NIP and f0rest are also remembered for their legendary 87-0 LAN map winning streak from the early days of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

Complexity's General Manager Graham "messioso" Pitt confirmed to Dust2.us that f0rest agreed to represent the organization as a substitute for the upcoming Major. On why the legendary player was selected, messioso explained that Complexity AWPer Håkon "hallzerk" Fjærli was also a former teammate since the two spent time together on Dignitas from 2020 through 2022.

We were looking for a player who was located within the vicinity of Copenhagen or a short distance away who wasn't tied to any team or had any other obligations. Obviously we have no intention of ever using a sub during the major, it's purely a backup in case of illness or injury. We would have loved to have a North American player in this role but the logistics around it didn't make it a feasible option this time around.

f0rest is a former teammate of hallzerk and a GOAT of the game. We know he would bring a wealth of experience, a calm head, and would be able to slot into just about any role - which is about all you can ask for in an emergency situation.

Complexity's roster for the upcoming PGL Copenhagen Major is:

  • Johnny "JT" Theodosiou

  • Ricky "floppy" Kemery

  • Michael "Grim" Wince

  • Håkon "hallzerk" Fjærli

  • United States Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski

  • Tiaan "T.c" Coertzen (Coach)

  • Sweden Patrik "f0rest" Lindberg (Substitute)
