Shimmer unable to surprise NAVI Javelins
In a match where Shimmer started already at a disadvantage, due to a last-minute injury, things did not look good, as they faced the second highest-rated team in the tournament, NAVI Javelins. With the Spanish crowd behind them, thanks to the hometown stand-in Aida "Aidy" Garcia, the North American team even got an early lead and put up a valiant fight, but didn't manage to shock the world.
With this result, Shimmer will face FURIA later today, in an elimination Bo3 series, while NAVI Javelins will face 9 Pandas Fearless in a qualification Bo1 match, also today.
The veto decided that Ancient would be the map of the match, one that both teams love and don't have a single loss in. Shimmer started on the T-side and, despite losing the pistol and the following rounds, got their first on the board very quickly, tied the game, and took the 3-2 lead. After that, NAVI Javelins picked up the pace and ran with the game, reaching halftime 9-3 ahead.
NAVI Javelins picked up where they left off, winning the second-half pistol round and the next two. With the help of two shotguns, Shimmer got back on the board and NAVI Javelins relied on just pistols, which granted the North Americans their fifth-round win. Shimmer managed to shrink the deficit to 12-7 but the Polish squad closed the map 13-7.
Shimmer are now in the lower bracket, where they will face FURIA in an elimination Bo3 series. The match will happen today, at 12:30PM
