WESG Americas Regional Finals moved online

Citing visa concerns, the $91,000 event featuring 20 teams from the Americas has been split into online portions.

AliSports, the division of the Alibaba Group that is behind the WESG tournament series, have announced that the WESG Americas Regional LAN Finals will be moving online, "due to the current migration policy of the USA".

The organizer announced that the amount of prize money up for the taking and spots to the World Finals will remain the same — however because of ping considerations, the once combined event will now be split into separate North and South American qualifiers. Because the Brazilians of SK Gaming in fact live in the United States, they will participate in the North America qualifier.

With the changes, the team list for WESG North America now breaks down as follows:

Male Female
United States Cloud9 United States CLG Red
United States Mythic United States Freedom Fraggers
United States Swole Patrol United States American Eagles
Canada FRENCH CANADIANS Canada Those Damn Canadians
Canada subtLe Canada Poutine Puggers
Mexico Mexico
Brazil SK

The North America male qualifier will now feature five spots to the WESG Grand Finals, and $37,500 on offer. The North America female qualifier will only send one team to the Grand Finals, and have a prize pool of $8,000.

The team list for WESG South America is as follows:

Male Female
Isurus Brazil Keyd Stars fe
Brazil One NOXIUM fe
Vault Primadonna
Elite Wolves
rEAK

The South America Regionals will offer the same prize distribution as North America, with the exception being that only three of the male teams will advance to the World Finals.
