Report: NRG targeting oSee as key piece of NA roster
According to multiple sources with knowledge of the negotiations, Dust2.us understands that NRG have identified Josh "oSee" Ohm as one of the key pieces for their upcoming North American roster. The organization sees the AWPer as an important part of their return to Counter-Strike. The news follows NRG's confirmation that their goal for CS2 would be to host a North American team as they did before selling their roster to Evil Geniuses in 2019.
The decision to target oSee comes as the 24-year-old AWPer is set to leave Liquid after two years under the organization.
The American joined Liquid after a stint on Extra Salt and Cloud9, where he was touted as one of the upcoming talents from the United States. Liquid are moving on from oSee as they prepare a new squad with Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken, Casper "cadiaN" Møller, and Felipe "skullz" Medeiros. With cadiaN taking up the AWPing role, oSee has been allowed to explore his options.
The decision to go after oSee, North America's number one AWPer, is a no-brainer for the organization as they are entering a region devoid of tier-one AWPing talent. The move counter-acts a recent trend of North American organizations adding European AWPers to their rosters.
Dust2.us understands that NRG currently has a North American core in mind for their new roster, however we are unable to confirm the additional players at this time. It is understood that NRG have their eyes on several names with experience on Liquid, Complexity, and Evil Geniuses. Evil Geniuses' players are also understood to be a likely avenue for NRG as the Seattle-based organization is reportedly set to exit Counter-Strike before 2024.
