ex-Wildcard quartet dropped in shock move

The former players were given little warning their time with the organization was coming to an end.

Following Dust2.us' report that Wildcard are set to overhaul their roster with the signing of multiple Forsaken players, the organization have confirmed the departure of four of their players, leaving Keller "SLIGHT" Nilan as the sole remaining player from the squad.

The shock decision to drop four players comes immediately after the return of Wildcard's players from their European bootcamp, seeing the squad gain valuable experience against European tier-two and tier-three teams. Despite this investment in the squad and an upward trajectory for the team, Wildcard made the decision to look towards Forsaken as the future of their presence in Counter-Strike 2, going as far as to allegedly keep all but SLIGHT in the dark about their intentions.

According to multiple members of the team, ex-Wildcard were only told of their impending release after their match against Eros last night — around 16 hours before the public announcement.

Fortunately, despite the shock of being dropped, ex-Wildcard intend on staying together and are currently in the process of finding a new fifth and a new organization. The team are almost guaranteed a spot in ESL Challenger League Season 46, which will hopefully help their efforts to find a new home.

ex-Wildcard are:

  • United States Matthew "Cryptic" Whitmore

  • Canada Adam "freshie" Paterson

  • United States Brett "brett" Rhein

  • United States Matthew "d4rty" Paplawskas

While I'm happy forsaken have found organizational support, I'm disappointed with how spontaneous the move is. I feel for ex wildcard, and I hope they come back stronger.
