madcow's return to coaching did not meet his expectations

Party Astronauts coach leaves project after one week

Roster turnover and conflicts over the team's direction guided madcow's departure.

Dust2.us has confirmed that Party Astronauts' head coach, Nathan "madcow" Retterath, is no longer with the team, having left the project on July 20th. His departure from the lineup came one week after he joined the squad and as such will now see Luke "Viathan" Carstens take over as the team's sole coach.

In a comment to Dust2.us, madcow pointed out a number of issues with the squad that led to it failing to meet his expectations and goals for his return to coaching. One of the key issues is that Party Astronauts were already working to integrate William "spek" Smith into the roster when Wesley "viz" Harris stepped down, creating a difficult team situation.

Additionally, madcow highlighted a unique situation where despite Hunter "Lucid" Tucker stepping down from the roster he expressed a desire to maintain a strong voice within the team, something madcow was against. Lucid's desire to continue working with the squad and being the main voice was something madcow felt was untenable and dangerous for the team's development. As such, he elected to leave the project to avoid the squad having to choose between him or Lucid.

With madcow out of the project, Party Astronauts are now:

  • United States Josh "PwnAlone" Pigue

  • United States Ben "ben1337" Smith

  • United States Connor "chop" Sullivan

  • United States William "spek" Smith

  • United States Adam "Grizz" Golden

  • United States Luke "Viathan" Carstens (Coach)

Party Astronauts await the start of ESL Challenger League Season 46 on August 15th.
