EliGE looked distraught after their loss

EliGE: "You just got to keep getting better"

Liquid had a great run at the Major but unfortunately it's as its end.

Liquid have unfortunately fallen 0-2 to Apeks in the quarterfinals of the BLAST.tv Paris Major and been eliminated. This ends the run for the Americas at the last ever CS:GO Major Championship, with no remaining representatives from continent in the playoffs.

We were able to sit down with Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski for a few quick questions after their match to talk about what's next for the team.

Since coming second at the BLAST Premier World Final at the end of 2022, Liquid have looked to struggle in high-pressure matches. Last place in the Spring Groups, and losing to paiN twice — at ESL Pro League and the Spring Showdown, there hasn't been much for the team to call success. A semifinals finish at IEM Katowice at the start of the year looked like the team might be having a resurgence, but then third place at the RMR sent the community in a massive worry.

After almost being eliminated in the Challengers Stage by Fluxo, Liquid had a massive comeback, making it all the way to the quarterfinals, we asked EliGE if the best is yet to come from the team?

I would like to say so, yeah. Immediately, it feels bad losing right now, but looking forward you just got to keep getting better as much as you can and try to fix what we can for the next tournaments. We have Dallas right afterward and CS2 after the player break, so we have that to look forward to.

With Joshua "oSee" Ohm going from the quietest on the team to the loudest over the course of the tournament, he's turned into the hype guy for the team. Although everyone expects Mareks "YEKINDAR" Gaļinskis to be that person for the team, oSee's step-up has surprised everyone — in a good way. We wanted to know how much of a different it has made for Liquid now that someone has taken up that role.

I think that it helps a lot. I mean, we have a lot of introverted players on the team; I think all four of us are introverted, besides YEKINDAR, so it definitely helps. In 2019, Twistzz was our hype guy, even though he was introverted as well, it's kinda been a similar thing — one introvert out of us becomes the hype guy. I think that it helped oSee a lot; it brought him a lot of confidence having that mentality the entire tournament.

With Liquid now eliminated, their next and final tournament before the player break is IEM Dallas. The team will be starting out in Group B, facing Astralis at 03:45PM on May 29th.
