launders did not mince words about Evil Geniuses

launders: "refrezh can't save EG"

The Canadian caster had a lot to say last night about the Blueprint organization.

Evil Geniuses have not had the easiest year. Last place finishes in ESL Pro League, IEM Katowice, the removal of EG White, and missing out on the BLAST.tv Paris Major Americas RMR, only to receive a last minute invite, and then still be eliminated has drawn ire from the community when expectations for the organization remain high.

Last night, the Evil Geniuses team were playing in the ESL Challenger Katowice open qualifiers with Ismail "refrezh" Ali, who was just announced. With the Dane on 100+ ping, the team were defeated by WITHOUTWARNING, an ESEA Advanced team featuring former ECL standouts.

In response to the defeat, Mohan "launders" Govindasamy took to twitter to express his frustrations with the roster, the organization, and what he sees as an "embarrassing" signing when considering the amount of NA talent they have.

In his most damning tweet, launders explains that it is incredibly embarrassing for Evil Geniuses to be importing European talent when they have a wealth of North American talent at their disposal. He says that this isn't League of Legends, which is known in North America as organizations regularly sign foreign talent from Asia or Europe to supplement their rosters.

The caster also argues that Evil Geniuses would have more fans and would win just as much if they went with a full North American lineup. There is disappointment in the fact that the organization has offered a ton of support to the region, but appear to "bottleneck" that talent at the same time.

Finally, he explains that blocking the NA roster spots for "above average european talent is so fucking stupid" if you are "spending money on more than 5 players" and then buying the players you need.

Evil Geniuses will be playing with refrezh as they look to prepare for IEM Dallas 2023 in June.

it depends what he means by "saved"

will they be top 2 with refrezh, no, will they be losing to paqueta and yur with refrezh, of course not

I think they will get back to being a solid top 20 roster with refrezh, it's gonna take a lot of work to get back to being the 2019 NRG/EG roster level

It will come down to the results as always. I personally am really hesitant about this move, because I don't see it elevating them into a top-30 roster, so I would prefer keeping it NA. At the same time, even with a comparatively weak roster, EG is still less than the sum of its parts. So maybe the experience of Refrezh really can make a huge difference. I'm pessimistic about the org right now, partially because I genuinely believe that EG Black is the better team, but I do hope that they prove me wrong.
