refrezh is ready to experience NA

refrezh to play first EG match tonight

The newly signed rifler will be featuring tonight for his new team.

The former Heroic and Sprout star was just announced by Evil Geniuses today and is hitting the ground running as he will be playing in tonight's ESL Challenger Katowice Open Qualifier. ESL Challenger Katowice is the former ESL Challenger Hannover event, which was moved due to the festival being canceled.

Ismail "refrezh" Ali will be replacing Jadan "HexT" Postma on the main lineup, with the Canadian presumably set to be moved down to EG Black permanently, where he has already helped the squad qualify for ESL Challenger Melbourne.

Evil Geniuses are coming back from the BLAST.tv Paris Major Americas RMR, where the team earned a surprise invite as Detonate were unable to field a full roster following one player experiencing passport issues and one having a severe medical issue. With EG as the next in line due to their finish, they earned the invite to compete and replaced Detonate's seed in the competition.

The squad were able to earn a shock win over first-round matchup Imperial and brought FURIA to the brink, however they were eliminated in their best-of-three match against Paquetá. The squad then also suffered some difficulties getting home as several team member experienced delays or outright missed their flights.

Evil Geniuses are using the following squad in tonight's matches:

  • United States Vincent "Brehze Cayonte

  • United States Timothy "autimatic" Ta

  • Sanzhar "neaLaN" İskhakov

  • United States Jerric "wiz" Jiang

  • Denmark Ismail "refrezh" Ali

  • Denmark Daniel "Vorborg" Vorborg (Coach)

Evil Geniuses' next LAN outing is currently IEM Dallas on May 29th, which would put them on a pretty tight schedule should they qualify to ESL Challenger Katowice, which is set to start on June 9th.

I don't think it would be the right move - and EG are pretty locked into an NA team now.
