The Brazilians finally have something to be happy about

MIBR win ECL S43 North America

The Brazilians left a huge stain on EG Black's almost-perfect season.

MIBR has successfully snatched the ESL Challenger League Season 43 NA trophy from EG Black, beating the North American squad 3-1 in the BO5 grand final, where the EG squad had a 1-0 advantage due to coming from the upper bracket.

As was noted many times before, EG Black had a perfect regular season in ECL. Seven series, seven wins, 14 maps won, zero maps lost. Expectations were high for the playoffs, despite losing one map against Nouns during the upper-bracket semifinals.

MIBR on the other hand barely made it into the playoff stage but once it started, the Brazilians looked locked in. They defeated ATK, who also had a near-perfect regular season, then 2-0'd oNe, and fell to the lower bracket after a 2-0 loss against EG Black. In the lower bracket they once again beat oNe 2-0.

The series was off to a good start for the EG side, as they managed a 10-5 half on the CT-side of Nuke, with MIBR looking a bit lost on their own pick. Despite that, the Brazilians replicated the same score in the second half and sent the game to overtime. During OT, EG Black couldn't get a single T-side round and MIBR only needed one after winning the three while defending. Nuke ended 19-16 to MIBR, as Raphael "exit" Lacerda had 33 kills to his name.

MIBR got the third 10-5 half in the series on the CT-side of Inferno, in some part thanks to Matheus "Tuurtle" Anhaia's four opening kills. The second half was looking quick, as MIBR got to 14 before EG Black got to six, but the NA squad rallied behind Colby "Walco" Walsh, who had an amazing CT-side performance with 14 kills and 121.9 ADR. Despite the effort, the Brazilians were too close to the win and managed to crawl to it by the end of the 29th round, ending Inferno with a 16-13 score.

With everything to do, EG Black went to Dust2 less motivated and more tired. MIBR once again won a half with a 10-5 score, this time on the T-side, making everything look even worse for EG Black. Once again, MIBR got to 14 before the EG squad got to six, but managed to come back to a 15-10 score. Once again, it was too little too late, as the Brazilians closed the map 16-10 and the series 3-1, not losing any map inside the server.

With this victory, MIBR has now secured a spot in ESL Pro League Season 17 Conference. EG Black fell down from a great height, with this last series leaving a huge stain on the perfect record they had during the season. All in all, the team can be happy with the performances of its younger players, as they have been putting up incredible numbers.
