A new look at some of the recent Ancient changes

CSGO update changes Ancient & Anubis

You couldn't tell by the Liquid v. NAVI game today, but looks like CSGO has had enough of CT-sided Ancient.

Right before we get to the semi-finals of the BLAST Premier World Finals, CS:GO has decided to update Ancient by changing around a few things on the CT side. In the patch notes, there were a few interesting changes that sprung out to people. The most interesting one being that the bomb radius has been increased to 650 from 500, which makes it one of the largest in the game as Inferno was increased to 620 this summer.

Among the other changes were "Pushed back CT spawn 256 units" which will move the CTs back by about one second. Now, this change might not really affect your Gold Nova gameplay, but one second is incredibly valuable for any kind set-up at the top level.

One look at this shows just how deep the new spawn is, which might give the offense more time to set-up.

Additionally, the CSGO account shared more photos of the new sightlines that have appeared after they "compressed blocky things on B site, to create longer sightlines and more space to move around". Additionally, the developer has "flattened out cubbies in red house top of mid".

The changes to Anubis appear to fix several problems that players have encountered in the last few weeks with the map just going live. It fixed clipping issues with guns and grenades falling, adjusted some clipping issues, and improved the quality of life. It is likely that we will see more stylistic changes to the map as time goes on, like they have done previously for Vertigo, Ancient, and other introduced maps.

It is unlikely that we will see these new map changes make their way into the BLAST World Finals this weekend, but these changes will give teams plenty of time to adjust in the leadup to IEM Katowice.
