Team Brazil stomped the Swedes in the showmatch

coldzera: "Since 2016, when we conquered everything, we asked for a Major in Brazil"

If it wasn't for their wins in 2016, coldzera believes we never would have had this Major today.

After their 16-8 domination over Team Sweden, we spoke to Marcelo "coldzera" David about what it's like to finally have a Counter-Strike Major Championship in Brazil as well as how things are with his 00 Nation roster.

Well, coldzera, you played on the Genesee Arena in front of Brazilian crowd finally. How did it feel?

It feels really nice, the atmosphere here is really nice. People are really passionate, so that makes it even more special. And it's the first time we have a Major in Brazil, so that's an incredible experience and I enjoyed it a lot.

We had FURIA what were in the semifinals, and almost making it to the final. Is that a good landmark moment as someone that's really built Brazilian Counter-Strike?

Yeah, for sure, FURIA is playing good Counter-Strike. I think they had the best chance to win, but they could not make it. However, they should be proud of everything they conquer, for everything they did here in Brazil. People are very proud, Brazil is very proud and happy about this.

Being one of the leaders of Brazilian Counter-Strike for so many years, you're now building up this new team with the former GODSENT trio. A lot of young guys; they've said that you're like one of the dads trying to herald them along. Do you feel proud of the success that you've had with them so far?

Yeah, however, I think we can do more. I think for this tournament we just prepared really badly. We had a bad preparation. We went to North America and the practice there was not good. The intensity of our practice was not good as well. But at the same time, they're young, so they have a good way to build their game style, how they play and the experience they should get. So, we are here just to try to guide them for a few more years and probably after that, we’ll retire. But I think it's fine. I think we're going to prepare them for the next level.

dumau has obviously been a big name actually in North American Counter-Strike for a long time. He's really been on that up and coming. Can you talk to me a little bit about him and what you think of him?

He is a is a special kid, so he has a lot of potential. He just should just try to understand more about the game. He shoots good, he has a good understanding about the game, but in the meantime, he needs more experience in it. It was the first time he playing in front of a crowd, so for him it was a different experience. I think he just needs time to get even better and he's a big promise for Brazilian Counter-Strike.

About the crowd it, it did seem like the kids really felt a little nervous in front of the crowd. Everyone was really cheering. Obviously, there's a lot of pressure. Do they feel that pressure?

I think the younger players just felt a little bit of pressure. It was first time they played in front of crowd and they've never played in front of one before, so that's fine, it's normal. You cannot hear the game well, so communication was not on point; it was really low, and you cannot hear sometimes. They're learning, so that's the best point. They need to learn and get more experience to be a better player next time.

Finally, with this entire event, everyone’s finally here in Rio. Seeing what it's all about, are you just excited about the fact that finally there's a Major right here?

Having a Major here was a dream for us. Since 2016, when we conquered everything, we asked for a Major in Brazil. It took six years to happen and right now we should be proud for what we did in the past. Because if we didn’t do those things in the past, we probably would not have a Major in Brazil. So, we are really proud about everything, about the community, about FURIA as well and everyone who’s hearts paid to have a Major in Brazil.
