FURIA fell to Heroic after a back-and-forth series

saffee: "Being in front of our home crowd there's no feeling like it"

Despite the tough loss, saffee appreciated the support of the home crowd.

Following FURIA's heartbreaking loss to Heroic, Ryan Friend caught up with Rafael "saffee" Costa for a brief interview to discuss the slugfest series against Heroic and the Brazilian player's overall takeaways from the event.

Let's start this interview on a happy note. What can you tell me about that comeback on Ancient to force map three?

I think that the whole team showed a lot of resilience. Ancient was our map pick and we were feeling really confident on CT-side. It was 15-5 and we knew that if we could make one round the crowd was going to be together with us and we could snowball on the CT-side. I don't know what happened in OT, we just felt that we could've closed it but Heroic is a great team as well, and sometimes things don't work out.

This series lasted for nearly five hours. How is your energy level coming out of such a marathon of a series?

I mean a lot. You know playing OT and then the third map, of course we're going to feel a little bit of exhaustion. But, we were feeling confident coming into Nuke because we had a great run on Ancient and that motivated us to the third map. It's a best of three and you're going to feel exhausted, but that's just how it goes.

Going back to map one, Inferno, what was the game plan there?

On T-side, arT was calling a lot of crazy stuff... just arT things. We just embraced it and it worked out pretty well for us. We did some pretty fast rounds. Inferno was a map that we were practicing a lot in the bootcamp before Rio. We were feeling really confident. I thought they were going to pick Overpass or something like that and when they picked Inferno we were like "ok we can do this."

During that map, arT kept buying MAC-10's, was he just trying to have fun with the buys?

Yeah, he just let the dogs out and he just ran a lot on the map.

Finally, do you think this semifinals result is a good achievement for FURIA?

Oh yeah, definitely. Being in front of our home crowd there's no feeling like it. We feel really happy about it even though it's a really tough loss. Our main goal was to be champions but the whole vibes that the crowd gave us, we are definitely sad right now but overall really happy.
