FaZe 0-2 after dismantling by Vitality
The absolute favorites for IEM Rio, FaZe, have ended day one of the Legends Stage with a shocking loss 16-6 loss to Vitality on Inferno. Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken and co. will now have an immense hill to climb if they want to make playoffs as they need three Bo3s back-to-back-to-back against a number of hungry squads to try and win their second Major and Intel Grand Slam Season 4.
The action started on Inferno with FaZe looking absolutely off the boil on their third best map as Vitality burst onto their T-side to win the opening pistol and maintain a chokehold on proceedings. Despite a number of attempts to get into the action on their CT-side, Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut was a force of nature as he helped Vitality claim a 12-3 half.
After switching sides, the pain continued for FaZe as they lost the second half pistol round before quickly being put down by the Frenchmen's troops to win the map 16-6. While ZywOo ruled the roost with a 1.84 rating, Emil "Magisk" Reif also put in the work a 1.63 rating of his own.
With FaZe's tournament life on the line, they will need to wait for round two to wrap to see who they will taking on tomorrow.
