The AWPer took to Twitter to vent his frustrations

degster slams ESL over tech issues

After the OG AWPer complained on Twitter about the performance of PCs and ESL's handling of the situation, the tournament officials have fired back.

It wouldn't be a Major without drama, and it appears to already be starting due to the constant computer issues plaguing Abdul "degster" Gasanov over the course of the last two days. On the first day of the Challengers Stage, degster experienced a multi-hour delay which required multiple PC replacements, several monitor replacements, and the replacements of cords, SSDs, and even power cables. In the end, it was allegedly caused by degster inspecting an in-game skin with a sticker from Grayhound's Joshua "INS" Potter.

After another delay impacted degster today, he took to Twitter in a series of tweets bemoaning ESL's handling of the situation and compared it to PGL, the operator for the two most recent Majors. In a tweet, degster claims that he "would never have to wait two hours to fix the issue" when PGL was the operator, however with ESL it has clearly taken more time.

degster further claimed that there was no fix to the problem, which prompted ESL's Head of Game Ecosystems for CS:GO, Marc "Nix0n" Winther to refute this claim.

We did resolve your particular issue? We went through several hardware changes on our end, but in the end, it was a config setting on your end?

We're happy to meet on site to help and understand where ever we can.

Additionally, when degster made another disparaging tweet claiming that ESL "doesn’t do anything to help players and teams", Nix0n fired back claiming that this was "not a fair representation of what happened and how we've worked with everyone to resolve the issues".

ESL was not the only one to respond to the Russian AWPers tweets this afternoon, as celebrated caster/host Chad "SPUNJ" Burchill accused the player of "not being truthful on social media".

ESL have provided the following statement in response to the series of degster's tweets from this afternoon;

Regarding the technical pauses at the IEM Rio Major:

We’ve had a number of matches that have required pauses in order to resolve technical issues. We’ve already applied fixes for past issues and are continuously running through several tests with a dedicated team for anything new in order to diagnose and resolve it as soon as possible. We continue to monitor and act promptly to provide support to the tournament, teams and players.

These things shouldn’t happen but in a dynamic environment with multiple softwares in play, they can happen.

degster and the rest of OG will be back on the server tomorrow, as the squad will be looking to stave off elimination in the 1-2 pool against an opponent that is yet to be determined.
