The 18-year-old will step back from league play for now

kaboose is loose following departure from Chris and the boys

The team are down to four following a lackluster start to the MDL season.

Jake "kaboose" McDonald is no longer a member of Chris and the boys, with the player already having left the ESEA roster last night. The team competed in the second StarLadder Major Americas Minor open qualifier with Mikey "SkrubWrecker" Moore in kaboose's stead earlier today, falling to ex-Zone in the Round of 32. A trio of the team's members previously played alongside SkubWrecker in one of the DreamHack Masters Stockholm 2018 open qualifiers.

When contacted by, a member of the team told us that kaboose stepped down to "take a break from league play [and] focus on FPL and his real life stuff," with kaboose verifying his departure but not providing details as to his reasons for leaving. Additionally, when questioned about kaboose's replacement, we were told that a new member was yet to be confirmed, with the team currently considering three different players.

kaboose previously left the team following Christopher "Swahn" Swahn's departure from the roster, although he returned when the team's namesake player hopped back on board in place of  Gabe "Spongey" Greiner. He has been a part of the roster since he replaced Michael "Turismo" Haas on iNTACT in January, having spent the previous two seasons on Vision before the roster dissolved.

Chris and the boys have had a dismal run in this season of MDL following the departure of in-game leader Alan "Shakezullah" Hardman, with the team currently 2-6 following losses to Variance, Singularity, oNe, Ascent, and Polar Ace. Their run in both the Fragadelphia Online 5th Year Anniversary Event and the second Mythic Cup was put to a halt by Singularity, while a 3-4 record in the group stage of WINNERS League Season 2 saw the team narrowly miss out on a spot in playoffs.

Chris and the boys are now left with:

  • United States Christopher "Swahn" Swahn
  • Canada William "will" Cheng
  • United States Rich "Rich" Sylvestri
  • United States Chase "mcs" Sullivan
  • United States Mark "markalodon" Rose (Coach)

Chris and the boys are next set to take on ATK on May 30th at 9 PM EDT for MDL.
