Grim was the team's deadliest member but wasn't enough to best MOUZ

MOUZ overwhelm Complexity

The North Americans still have a chance to qualify for playoffs tomorrow.

After an electric 2-0 start, yesterday Complexity fell to the hands of Heroic. Today, they entered the server looking to go one step further in their mission of clinching the ESL Pro League Season 16 playoffs. NA's opponents, MOUZ, have looked ice cold with the help of David "frozen" Čerňanský. A win here for both teams would put them with one foot on the playoffs' door.

Complexity picked Overpass as the first map of the series. The pistol round started well for MOUZ on the CT-side, with a clean one tap from frozen into Ricky "floppy" Kemery's head. That would set the pace for the first half. The NA team couldn't find a rhythm and couldn't execute the strats, and so Complexity was only able to find two scarce rounds, as the half ended 13-2 in favor of MOUZ.

The second half saw Complexity doubling their round wins in just the first two rounds, after winning the pistol round and the following one. The group C underdogs were trying to replicate the first half start from MOUZ and, with the help of Justin "FaNg" Coakley in a 1v1 post-plant situation, they managed to win six rounds in a row. It could have been seven straight, but Jon "JDC" de Castro had other ideas, as he got a 4k in a force buy round for MOUZ, making it a 14-8 game. Complexity won the following gun round but lost yet another force buy round. With MOUZ only one round away from closing the first map, the North Americans weren't able to string enough rounds together to send the game to overtime. 16-11 was the final result, as MOUZ took Overpass.

Going over to MOUZ's Ancient, Complexity had a huge challenge ahead. The challenge became even harder after MOUZ won the T-side pistol round to open the map hostilities. Once again, the Europeans started with six straight rounds, on the back of an amazing JDC clutch in the first gun round of the game. Unfortunately, this time MOUZ didn't stop at six, but at eight. Complexity finally got a round on the board, making it an 8-1 game, also getting some life after that, putting together five more rounds until the end of the half.

Starting the second half on the T-side of Ancient, down 9-6 and a 1-0 map deficit, Complexity had a mountain to climb. The team was able to win the pistol and was aiming to imitate MOUZ's streak, but was stopped at the seventh round of the half. The score was now 12-10 in favor of Complexity. MOUZ managed to tie the game, but after that the North Americans just run away with the game, ending the map 16-12, leaving it all up to Inferno to decide the winner of the series.

MOUZ started the third map as they did the two previous ones, with a pistol round win, this time on T-side Inferno. After another very slow start, seven rounds in a row for MOUZ this time, Complexity got to the end of the half with only four against MOUZ's eleven.

For the first time in the series, the same team won both pistol rounds of the map. Only this time Complexity didn't allow the Europeans to go on a round win streak. Despite their efforts, Michael "Grim" Wince and company weren't able to replicate their Ancient heroics and fell short of a comeback in Inferno. The map ended 16-7 for MOUZ, closing the series 2-1.

Complexity started very slowly in all three maps but managed to stay competitive all series. Despite this, the early leads they conceded to MOUZ would hurt them in the later stages of the games, as it would be too big of a deal for them to work around. Regardless, there are still a lot of positives to take from this. The players are looking much more relaxed when facing harsher situations, keeping them in the games even if they have a large deficit. Don't forget this is a two-month-old roster going through its second big event, that still has a lot of value yet to be explored.

Tomorrow's game will be against ENCE at 01:30PM and will decide if Complexity advances or not into the playoffs.
