autimatic topped the scoreboard, despite the loss

autimatic shines despite Genius' loss

The American team has not had the easiest time at BLAST with a new squad and a stand-in, but certainly showed flashes of brilliance.

Evil Geniuses played valiantly, with most of the team showing up at one point or another. Jaden "HexT" Postma was stellar throughout Nuke and Overpass, which is impressive considering this is his first major LAN event. Despite the excellence of the individuals throughout the day, it was simply not enough for the team to move beyond NIP as they lose out 1-2 and will now head to the Fall Showdown.

The Americans elected to start off the matchup on Nuke where they had immediate success after winning the pistol and the subsequent four rounds. However, that luck would run out as NIP got back into the game and battled back to an 8-7 half time. Evil Geniuses kept the rounds close, however as they switched to their CT-side there was hope that the Blueprint org would be able to take control of the match. That did not happen, however, as they failed to win a single round on the defense and lost the map 16-7.

With the odds stacked against Evil Geniuses as they headed to NIP's pick of Overpass, it seemed like they would exit in a meager 0-2. However, EG would not go down so easily. Once again EG got off to a roaring start, but this time they kept it up and secured an otherworldly dominant first half 13-2 on their CT-side. After a shaky second half start, the Americans closed it out on the back of Timothy "autimatic" Ta's superstar performance of 26 kills and a 1.74 HLTV Rating.

Forcing the map to Inferno, NA fans held out hope that the Geniuses would be able to bring home a victory for the squad. For the third time in a row, the Daniel "vorborg" Vorborg led squad jumped out to a 5-0 lead, however unlike the last map, they could not sustain that momentum. EG was only able to win six rounds on their T-side, despite their pistol round win. Moving onto their favored CT-side, EG jumped out with a crucial pistol round and clawed their way back to a 9-9 scoreline. It was there that NIP finally woke up and showed their strength by winning the next seven out of nine rounds to close out the final map 16-11.

The Evil Geniuses team showed moments of brilliance, with autimatic's massive performance throughout the entire match. Despite losing two out of the three maps, he had a 83.3 ADR, 1.10 HLTV Rating, and 67.1% KAST. He also showed up the entire scoreboard by posting 56 kills, the most of any player. It is remarkable for a player that was forced to miss the opening matches of the event to fly back home for personal reasons.
