EG is reportedly bringing back French coach and adding former CPH Flames Co-Owner
Just minutes after Evil Geniuses announced that Jake "Stewie2K" Yip would be departing the Evil Geniuses CS:GO roster, a report by Blix.gg claims that the Seattle organization is trying to bring Damien "maLeK" Marcel back into the fold. maLeK was benched and transfer-listed by Evil Geniuses on May 10th, while releasing assistant coach Paolo "EVY" Berbudeau and analyst Juan "Hepa" Borges via Twitter announcement. The controversy played out famously over the next several months with EVY sitting down with 1pv.fr to produce a tell-all regarding his time and Stewie2K.
However, it appears that maLeK and Evil Geniuses have no hard feelings about the departure of the former coach and are looking to have him come back into the squad. Dust2.us knows that at the time there were tensions between Stewie2K and maLeK, which led to the organization choosing the player over the coach. With the great passage of time and Stewie2K's departure from the competitive CS:GO roster today, it appears that now is the perfect opportunity to bring the Frenchman back.
In another surprising twist for Evil Geniuses who has continued to surprise the CS:GO scene, former Copenhagen Flames Co-Owner and head coach Daniel "Vorborg" Vorborg is in the final stages of negotiations to become the new head coach of the primary roster. Vorborg has had limited experience as a Head Coach with his only experience being the team he had a financial stake in. Flames famously reached the PGL Antwerp Major Quarter-Finals, with dramatic underdog victories over teams like ENCE and Bad News Eagles to give themselves a main stage berth. With Vorborg coming into the fold, it is not exactly clear what maLeK's role in the organization will be.
