Bad News Bears and oNe return to ECL for Season 42
Day two of ESEA Challenger League Season 41 Relegation has wrapped up, with Bad News Bears and oNe retaining their spots in ECL following victories over timbermen and Axolotls respectively. Meanwhile, in the lower bracket, Northern Forces sent Davenport University packing back to ESEA Advanced with a dominant 2-0, while Detonate handily moved past Unjustified to keep their relegation run alive.
Following a strong showing against Detonate on the first day, which saw AWPer Christopher "Swahn" Swahn impress with a 1.73 rating, Bad News Bears were matched against timbermen for their upper bracket qualification match. Luckily for the Bears, Swahn kept up the momentum from the day prior, posting a 1.31 series rating, joined by Khizar "MoMo" Rehman with a 1.49 rating. With most of the rest of the squad performing fairly well in their qualification match, it was certainly an uphill struggle for timbermen, but despite these difficulties, the ESEA Advanced still managed to secure a double-digit scoreline on both maps. In the end, Bad News Bears bested timbermen 2-0, sending them down to the lower bracket for another shot at promotion.

oNe struggled a bit more in their first match of relegation, as Northern Forces drew out the series to three maps before the Brazilian side closed things out, in large part thanks to a heroic performance from Matheus "pesadelo" Panisset, who led his squad with a 1.54 series rating. After taking down Northern Forces, oNe squared off against Axolotls, where pesadelo continued to lead the charge for his team. Axolotls struggled to stay competitive this series, as oNe solidified their spot in ECL Season 42 2-0.

While things were sunshine and roses for Bad News Bears and oNe, Davenport University and Unjustified had a much worse experience in relegation. Davenport University were knocked down to the lower bracket after getting trounced by Axolotls in their opening match, with Blake "Elk" Swinson firmly shutting the collegiate squad down. Things got even worse for Davenport in the lower bracket, as Northern Forces had an even easier time taking them out, with Davenport University only scavenging seven rounds across the two maps played, an unfortunate end to their run through Advanced.

Like Davenport University, Unjustified also had a rough go of things in their two matches played in relegation. The team were unable to keep things close against timbermen, who quickly sent Unjustfied to the lower bracket. Against Detonate, Unjustified did their best to mount a comeback effort on the opening map but Detonate eventually shut these plans down. Detonate's momentum was carried over to the second map of Overpass, where Detonate demolished Unjustified to send them back to Advanced.
